Because it looks and feels the same as African American hair that has been relaxed. In other words, it feels soft and smooth and has a radiant shine.

Yaky wigs were created by Royal Imex Inc., within the Zury brand. The Micro Yaky was introduced in 1996, and following the popularity of that ebony wig, the Ultra Yaky was introduced in 1998. Now there are multiple companies that have created their own styles of wigs that are similar to the yaky texture.
