Custom made human hair wigs
There are many steps necessary for completing custom made human hair wigs. For the best, most custom wigs, the wigmaker will meet with the wig-wearer and take his head measurements. Then, a wooden block is created in the dimensions of the wearer's head, based on those measurements. With the use of this wooden "head," a foundation can be made from cotton ribbon and lace and nylon lace.
It is then often necessary to meet with the wearer again to make sure that the foundation fits perfectly. Once the fit is verified, the ventilating process can begin. To ventilate is to tie a knot. Each hair is individually tied on at the hairline, and the rest of the hairs are tied on a couple at once. They are tied on in a manner that is comparable to rug-tying – the knot used is actually the same!
It can take over 50 hours for a professional wigmaker to create his custom made human hair wigs. It may sound like a lot of time, but it is certainly less time than it would take to grow an entirely different head of hair!
