You want to be sure that your custom lace wigs fit your head as well as possible. Of course, for a good fit, you need to make good measurements. If you go into a wig shop, a professional should help you complete the measurements. If you are ordering online, however, you are likely going to have to measure your head yourself.

Gather up a cloth tape measure, hair clips, a chart to write your measurements on, and someone to help you out. Use the clips to pull your hair up, curling it up close to your hairline – take only small clumps, otherwise you can distort the shape of your head. Basically, you should wear your hair as you would beneath the wig – put on your wig cap (pantyhose works).

Have your partner measure around your head, pretty much along the hairline (1/2 inch above the hairline). This is the most important measurement. For a custom lace wig, though, you will also need to measure from the front of the hairline to the back of the neck, then from ear to ear (over your head), then ear to ear over the neck, length of the neck (for the previous two, use the same starting and ending points as you used in the other ear to ear measurement), and then from temple to temple.
